Caring for a pet can sometimes be challenging, and finding trustworthy help shouldn't be. We've compiled this list of resources to serve as a starting point for New Hampshire pet owners. We hope this information connects you with the support you need.
Financial Assistance & Veterinary Bills
If you need help paying for veterinary care, it's often best to apply to multiple sources. The following organizations offer various forms of assistance, grants, or credit options.
Care Credit
Animals: Any
Credit card for medical expenses. Warning: Pay off before promo period ends to avoid retroactive interest.
Diabetic Cats in Need
Animals: Cats
Provides one-time $75 assistance, glucose kit, and insulin. No proof of income needed; requires written justification from caregiver.
Help a Pet
Animals: Any
Income limit: $20k (individual) or $40k (family). Owners must pay what they can afford.
Mosby Foundation
Animals: Dogs
Helps with unforeseen problems. Requirement: Dogs must be spayed/neutered prior to aid.
Onyx & Breezy Foundation
Animals: Dogs, Cats
Must apply for and be denied by Care Credit first. Apply via mail (email allowed for emergencies). Does not cover completed surgeries.
Paws 4 a Cure
Animals: Dogs, Cats
Assistance for urgent care, meds, insulin, heartworm, and equipment. Does not help with outstanding bills.
The Pet Fund
Animals: Dogs, Cats
Focus on non-basic/non-emergency care (cancer, heart disease, etc.). Email before applying.
Red Rover Relief
Animals: Dogs, Cats
Urgent care grants (avg $250) for life-threatening situations. Cannot assist if treatment cost is $1000+.
Waggle (Riedel & Cody Fund)
Animals: Dogs, Cats
Receive aid by creating a crowdfunding campaign on Waggle, then inform your vet.
Shadow Fund
Animals: Dogs, Cats
Limited assistance (primarily Merrimack Valley) for emergency/life-threatening care. No routine care.
Banfield (HOPE Funds)
Animals: Dogs, Cats
For life-threatening conditions. Treatment and application must be done at a Banfield Pet Hospital.
Humane Society (Nashua)
Animals: Dogs, Cats, Small Animals
Call during business hours for appointment.
Humane Society (Laconia)

Animal Rescue Veterinary Services
Animals: Cats, Dogs, Rabbits
Animals must be healthy and under 6 years old. The preferred method of contact is via email at info@arvsonline.org. They request proof of financial need.
AWARE of NH
Animals: Cats, Dogs
Aware has additional medical care including microchipping, vaccinations and parasite treatment. This all is included with the Spay/Neuter Package.
Feline Friends in Salem
Animals: Cats
Feline Friends has low cost spay/neuter for cats. Male cats cost $75 while female cats cost $100. They also have a program to spay mother cats for free if the kittens are surrendered to Feline Friends for adoption. Call to schedule an appointment.
Humane Society for Greater Nashua
Animals: Cats, Male Dogs
Appointments can be scheduled on Tuesdays for cats and Thursdays for dogs. Animals must be between 4 months to 7 years old and in good health. Remove your pets food and water the midnight before drop off. For dogs over 100 pounds, call to schedule your appointments.
Humane Society in Laconia
Animals: Cats, Dogs
Humane Society in Laconia currently is offering free spay/neuter for NH residents, but slots are limited. All Spay/Neuter packages include: spay/neuter surgery with tattoo, rabies vaccine, DA2PP/FVRCP vaccine, microchip, nail trim, E-collar, post-op pain medication, and one-time flea/ear mite treatment (if needed). There are no discounts for any declined services. Rabies vaccination and microchip are REQUIRED and may only be declined with proof of current rabies vaccination or if already microchipped. A tattoo to indicate that your pet is sterilized is REQUIRED and may not be declined. (CAT NEUTER OR SPAY-$150 DOG NEUTER-$250 DOG SPAY - $350)
Kitty Angels in southern NH/eastern MA
Animals: Cats
Kitty Angles requires your cat to weight a minimum of 2 pounds before they can be seen. Check in for appointments is between 8:00 am and 8:45 am. Cats will be checked in at the parking lot and are the only ones allowed in the clinic. When checking in have your payment prepared in cash. Refunding is difficult so have the exact dollar amount ready before drop off. Grant money may be available if you are unable to meet the fee of $120. Once your cat is ready to be picked up, you will receive a call.
Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society in West Windsor
Animals: Cats, Rabbits
Depending on the animal you need registered, different steps will need to be taken. Cats can be scheduled online by completing the form avalible on the website. Dogs, on the other hand, need to be registered over the phone. Once these steps are complete, they will reach out to you over email. Slots are limited.
Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society
Animals: Cats
MRFRS has a mobile surgical unit. A good option for people in southern NH and along the MA border. Call or email for an appointment.
Monadnock Humane Society in Swanzey
Animals: Cats
Check for availability on website. The veterinarian position is currently empty. Appointments are canceled until a replacement is found.
Pope Memorial SPCA in Concord
Animals: Cats, Dogs
Pope Memorial SPCA hosts monthly spay and neuter clinics for healthy cats four months to seven years old, and dogs four months to five years old. Dogs must be under 55 pounds, and certain breeds are not acepted. Check the website for the exact list.
Rozzie May Animal Alliance
Animals: Cats, Dogs
Rozzie May requires prepayment for all appointments. Dogs need a $100 down payment. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please reach out 3 to 4 days before your appointment so they have time to fill in the open slot. Credit or debit is accepted. Cash can be arranged, but no personal checks.
Second Chance Animal Rescue in Littleton
Animals: Cats, Dogs, Rabbits
Second Chance books over the phone, months in advance. A $25 deposit is needed for dog appointments. Pets must be a year old at a minimum and proof of vaccination must be presented at drop off. Payments must be made using cash. Debit and credit cards are not accepted. Have your dogs leashed and cats/rabbits in secure containers. Drop off begins at 7:30am and ends at 8:30am.
Sullivan County Humane Society in Claremont
Animals: Cats, Rabbits
The clinic is open only on Thursdays. Call ahead to get an appointment. The cost is $100 for felines and $200 for rabbits. If you need to reschedule, do it as soon as humanly possible. Doing so will give them plenty of time to fill the open spot.
The Animal Rescue League in Bedford
Animals: Cats, Dogs, Rabbits
To qualify for care you must be 18 years or older, the legal owner of the pet, a New Hampsire resident, and your dog or cat must be 2 months old. If you have a rabbit it must be 6 months old.
The Manchester Animal Shelter
Animals: Cats
Manchester Animal Shelter aids low income families in Manchester with spay/neuter needs. They offer low cost spay/neuter surgeries as well as a program for fixing pit bulls and pit bull crosses for free. People living outside Manchester please call.
