Update on Atticus! Say hello to the cutest lil guy who needs your help!

UPDATE!!!  A trip on Atticus…

Hi folks!  Joann and Atticus here with an update on surgery!  If you have not yet met, please do meet, Atticus (aka my little kangaroo):  a sweet, loving and playful teenage kitten – that was until a major trip left him injured and in need of life-enhancing surgery.  Tragically, I tripped and fell over him at home resulting in broken bones; for Atticus a fractured femur head and for me my wrist.  He is in need of essential surgery to stop his pain and improve his quickly deteriorating quality of life.

Good news awaits and we are delighted!  After receiving a second opinion about the best options for Atticus it was determined, by an orthopedic surgeon who reviewed Atticus’ x-rays, that he is a good candidate for FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery and that there is no need for a cardiac ultrasound! It is such a relief because amputation had been discussed and on the table. Additionally, the estimate given to us is for $2,500 (nearly half the cost of the original estimate)!  Together we have raised over $1,000 so far but still fall short of the total amount needed for FHO surgery.

I have asked friends and family for financial support and started a GoFundMe to raise funds.  I’ve been denied Care Credit and Scratch Pay but am looking into a second fundraising platform to raise funds in addition to reaching out to a variety of organizations for financial aid.  I come to you now and humbly ask for your financial support and prayers to help get Atticus the surgery he needs to get his quality of life back!  Without surgery he will be in pain and be lame for the remainder of his life and I couldn’t imagine him suffering so.

Please help my little Kangaroo to bounce again!
